The inaugural Richardson Gobble Hobble was held in 2006 as the result of a partnership between the Richardson Police Department and a local chiropractor, Dr. Cameron Laboret, to benefit a local charity. In the years that have followed, the race has hosted thousands of participants and has grown to highlight the beauty of the Spring Creek Nature Preserve. Today, the Gobble Hobble benefits Richardson Boys & Girls Club.
All donations to this 501(c)(3) are tax-deductible and all proceeds will support the Boys & Girls Club.
The Club provides youth with a safe place to learn and grow, where they build ongoing relationships with caring adult professionals. The students participate in life-enhancing programs and character development experiences, all building a foundation for hope and opportunity.
The Richardson Club is open to all boys and girls between the ages of 6 and 18, regardless of race, religion, or national origin. The Boys & Girls Club offers diverse program activities in three areas: Academic Success, Good Character & Citizenship, and Healthy Lifestyles. These services are offered through a network of center-based, professionally staffed, small group and one-on-one teachable moments and classes. Programs implemented enhance character and self-esteem, are educational and fun, and ultimately contribute to youth realizing their maximum potential.
The Club provides:
- A safe place to learn and grow
- Ongoing relationships with caring, adult professionals
- Life-enhancing programs and character development experiences
- Hope and opportunity
